A Name Made of Two Names
Moderat is a portmanteau—Modeselektor fused with Apparat. Three Berliners, two studios, one frequency. We trace how a project that almost never worked became one of electronic music's most beloved supergroups.
Where Melancholy Meets Bass
Apparat brought fragile, aching melody; Modeselektor brought rave weight and low-end mischief. The friction between them is the whole point. We listen for the seams—the exact moments where the heartbreak and the dancefloor refuse to let go of each other.
Club Music on Analog Wax
Digital productions carry a different gravity when the needle drops. We spin the pressings the way Berlin intended—A New Error, Rusty Nails, Bad Kingdom—and hear how warm vinyl reshapes their engineered cold.
Most people know Moderat as a festival headliner—the silhouettes behind Pfadfinderei's screens, the #1 live act readers crowned in 2009. We're here to talk about Moderat the negotiation: three strong-willed producers learning to disappear into each other's sound. From the self-titled debut to II, III, and the long-awaited More D4ta, we follow a decade of tension, a hiatus that looked permanent, and the reunion that proved it wasn't.
Our founder, Duka, brings his background in the music industry to the table. He'll trace how three solo egos built a shared language, why the project split in 2017, and what it takes to make machines sound like they're grieving.
A cozy corner of Chaduna is dedicated to the sound. Some tables remain open for our regular menu. Entry is free, but space is finite.
